phyx started out in gaming back when DukeNukem on the Kali online gaming network was popular. He would later get turned onto Quake1 by a couple local friends that he went to school with in Junior High that some people would know as visE and wombat. Quake1 was a closely knit community of players, only consisting of a handful of people around the country that played competitively. He would join Havoc, a long time Quake1/Quake3 clan and play online with the only connection that he could find, an ISDN modem. Later on in his Quake 1 career, he would join Craft where he would attend various events in the Chicagoland area and his first DCCon, sponsored by clanKapitol. Much of the time spent at LANs included social time with greats from U4, cK, stickmen, DROW and other clans of the time. Quake1 lead to the invention of RocketArena, where he would play with the Yeshov Incarnates and compete with several well known clans that would offshoot into the Quake3 DM teams of today. He continued playing Quake3, attending Frag3 to compete, getting knocked out early. Becoming disillusioned by the game itself of Quake3, he became a staff writer for Challenge-US, part of the Challenge Network. CN was a small, but initial step in the world of online esports reporting that everyone sees today. He would move onto snagging a position with GameSpy, working on PlanetDiablo.com and also servicing the community on GameSpyArcade, a now popular gaming interface as a support rep. All the while, he was practicing a beta game that had caught attention of the community, known as Counter-Strike. He would attend two other CPL events, meeting contacts and writing articles, moving onto XSreality (now known as ESreality) as a staff writer for the Counter-Strike portion of that site. As Counter-Strike became a huge scene, he would join murder1 with longtime friends visE and wombat, and new teammates doomwvr, glock, revenant, aura and fierce. murder1 would attend Recon2000, a huge LAN event that would in the end decide the fate of murder1, as several members decided to move on from the gaming scene and seek other "real life" options. clanKapitol also attended Recon2000 and phyx stayed at the "house of cK" for 6 weeks, playing constantly with the newly born cKcs squad. He would eventually decide to join cK, which would prove to add a longtime link with the original members, almost all of which he's played with on his various trips around the country and still keep contact with today. phyx would eventually move on from XSreality and play for cKcs, which he still does today. cKcs took a short hiatus; where phyx would form a LAN team with 4 local players in the Cincinnati area that would go on to win Lanwar16 and Stompfest of 2002. cKcs would then resurface to the scene and phyx would rejoin, bringing one of his LAN team players to the squad. Now, phyx plays Counter-Strike occasionally, sticking with clanKaptiol and currently seeks more involvement with the community again, instead of being an active player. -------------------------------- 1st place - stompfest ---indianapolis, in - 09/21/02 ---5v5 counter-strike :: team v2 1st place - lanwar xvi ---louisville, ky - 10/12/02 ---5v5 counter-strike :: team v2 1st place - violet vortex gaming center ---cincinnati, oh - 10/20/02 ---1v1 counter-strike 2nd place - neoquest cpl pre-quali ---lansdale, pa - 10/26/02 ---5v5 counter-strike :: clanKapitol 1st place - stompfest ---indianapolis, in - 03/01/03 ---5v5 counter-strike :: team ox |
