Microsoft Xbox 360: Movie Games : Why are they so bad?

Licensed movie games have been around almost as long as the gaming industry itself. Join DPAD's Andrew Martins as he takes a look at some recent film-to-game failures and asks the question: "Why are they so bad?"

Since close to gaming's inception, licensed games have been a key way for companies to try and gain a bit of revenue.  Movies like E.T. and Death Race have had official and unofficial games, respectively, which were used to generate some buzz about those films.

Yet almost as long as there have been licensed games, a majority of them have been bad.  It's really an amazing thing that some of today's better films have been soiled by just horrible game renditions.  Take E.T., for example.  The game was so horribly received in the gaming industry that its lack of sales is credited as one of the main reasons the gaming industry collapsed in the early '80s.

Since then, it seems as though the gaming world hasn't fully learned its lesson, taking both developer resources and huge amounts of money to create at best, lackluster games that both do a disservice to the industry. As well as, the poor saps who spend hard earned money on them.

Here are four of the more recent epic fails of movie to game adaptations that range from the bad to the downright painful.
