Microsoft Xbox 360: CPL Announces Console Competition Committee

By: Bob C - Published May 02, 2007 at 12:10 PM EDT - Writer Archive
Console gaming is finding its way into the major leagues once again, with the CPL announcing a committee to help govern its console division.
After the recent announcement of the games selected for the 2007 CPL World Tour including F.E.A.R.™ for Xbox 360™, the Cyberathlete Professional League (CPL), is now seeking applications for a new competition committee for console games. The committee will consist of professional team members, active media, community members and game developers.

Modeled after the one-versus-one competition committee, the goal of this new committee is the advancement of e-sports and the creation of competition standards for the entire industry among the various console games. The immediate task of this committee is to provide CPL and CAL with input on the development of rules and guidelines and the selection of appropriate maps for all console tournaments.

The committee will also provide a sounding board to improve the quality of tournament management and media coverage of console games, including F.E.A.R.™, Gears of War, and other console games adopted by both CAL and the CPL.

If you are interested in applying for this new committee, email committee@caleague.com with the following information:
