Gears of War, the popular third person shooter released on the Microsoft Xbox 360 November 7, has already surpassed one million copies sold. Gamers have been buying retail stores out of stock since its launch and Gears of War has become the fastest selling Xbox 360 title of 2006 through 14 days.

Gamers have taken their passion for Gears of War to the internet as well. Since the 7th, over 850,000 gamers have logged on to Xbox Live (XBL) and logged over 10 million gameplay sessions according to IGN.

Since bursting onto the scene, Gears of War has received nothing but positive comments from all media outlets and gamers right here on GotFrag. As soon as comparisons to Halo are made in terms of quality, a title has truly achieved greatness.

Competitively, Gears of War is popping up all around the country in smaller LAN tournaments and is rumored to be featured in some very large upcoming LAN events.
