The Bugs are horrendous, the Frame rate is slow, the menus are laggy, and the game freezes at random times. Not to mention that a lot of the great features in the PS2/Xbox versions of the past that made the game great are still missing in the next gen versions.
Pretty scary if you ask me.

Fear is really scary for a game.. I would suggest if your computer is good enough to run it and you have a nice pair of headphones to play it on my computer (Idk if there is really a difference on 360 I just really prefer fps games on pc + on my headphones it was amazing), but if you would rather get it on 360 then I suggest picking that up. I have played some of condemned 1 and it was pretty good, and I hear the 2nd one is "scary" to. But FEAR actually had me jumping at some points just because of creepy stuff that would just come out of nowhere (scary ninja people and little demon girls). And this isnt on 360, but all the old resident evil games were really good and they are the survival horror type games. Resident Evil 4 is one of the best, but scary wise I would go with one of the ones before that. Other than the FEAR and Condemned that you listed I don't really know of any other "scary" type games for 360.
Also completely agree with #5 madden 09 SUCKS, they better release a patch to fix it soon or its being returned from me. I figured a way to bypass the freezing glitch by playing 1 game in my franchise, then when you finish save the franchise, quit the game, then load up the franchise and play another then repeat. Usually it only freezes in the 2nd game of your franchise or w/e your playing. So you gotta trick it.
FEAR's good, at least until the halfway point, at which time the Alma-sightings become more of a side-game (see if you can spot them all) than something that actually scares you. Although to be fair, that changes at the very end of the game during the climax, when Alma -- along with the new "friends" she gains -- actually becomes a true threat to the player...
Stay away from the FEAR expansion packs -- they all suck hard (Monolith didn't create any of them, and it shows).
Condemned 1 was pretty scary, particularly during the apartment store level with the freaky mannequin people. However, the repetitive combat eventually becomes less scary and more just something you stoically tough out without really being emotionally effected by it anymore.
I can't speak for Condemned 2 -- haven't played it. Some people tell me it was better than the first game, some say it was worse.
And then of course there's BioShock. But it too ultimately suffers from the same creep-factor erosion that the previously mentioned games did. As your character becomes more and more powerful in BioShock with all sorts of awesome powers, the enemies cease to be truly scary (however well designed).
The only video games that ever manage to remain consistently scary from beginning to end, are the games that NEVER allow the player feel confident. System Shock 2 is the prime example of this (not a 360 game -- it's an old game from the late 90s that came out around the same time as Half-Life 1).
However, games like this just aren't very common, because such games also ultimately turn off a lot of people from them -- they get too scared to keep playing, and/or too frustrated. Thus, developers have learned to avoid creating video games like that these days.
The orginal Condemned made me jump a LOT lol. Condemned 2 was all right, but didn't make me jump too much. Haven't played FEAR yet but people say its good.
doom 3 scared me bioshock wasnt very scary imo... only 2 parts i can think of that made me creeped out... condemned 2 had some moments (the manequins in that one apartment :O) and it had pretty good atmosphere last few levels abandon the scary element and go more to action-y type gameplay.
doom3 scared me too. at least it did in the beginning when the enemies are few and far between...plus the zombies are scarier just in general than any sort of superpowerful massive monster type thing.
i've played clock tower for SNES and clock tower3 i think for ps1. they are definitely interesting and can be pretty scary, but the gameplay for the most part is so awful you have a hard time ignoring that aspect.
tough to beat resident evil 1 directors cut, classic. condemned had potential, the cool chasing serial killer idea, the department store, the orchard...but like someone else said, the nothing-but-melee constantly running around beating up people with bats kinda draws away from being scared. fear was solid.
I cant understand why people say that RE series are scary... assuming you're ~20 years old or whatnot, are you honestly scared of any of them? scary and exciting are two different things
