"Jeff Carroll, the associate producer in charge of multiplayer and PS3 on the upcoming Red Faction: Guerrilla, spoke to VideoGamer at THQ’s Gamers Day in San Francisco.
Then he was asked whether it is possible to achieve better graphics on the PS3 compared with the Xbox 360, and Carroll said:
I think potentially you will. I think early on people are going to be struggling to figure out exactly how to make the PS3 work. But I think once they do they will see it’s a very powerful system underneath.”
I owned an xbox (for 8 months), and sold it because I needed money, not because I didn't like it (which I did)
I owned a PS3 (for 12 months), and I sold it because again, I needed the money.
I enjoyed the PS3 more because it felt like an adult's console. Everything about it felt more sleek, professional, and again... "adult" whereas the xbox felt like a child's toy.
Bottom line really: it's all about preference.
It's blatantly obvious the PS3 is far more powerful than the xbox, but what it comes down to is: enjoyment.
The reason we still play 1.6, while it's graphics are inferior to Source's.
Sorry ;/ tired of seeing all this fanboy bashing lol
QUOTE: It's blatantly obvious the PS3 is far more powerful than the xbox
Oh yeah? Tell me, just HOW is it "blatantly obvious"? I assume you do understand what the term "blatant" means.
Because you definitely don't see all that much of a difference in the actual games, almost 3 years now into this generation. I think it's safe to say that if a truly significant difference was ever gonna emerge, it would've happened by now.
Whenever a PS3 version of a game has looked different from a 360 version of the same game, it's always been because the developers ported one version over, and thus simply didn't focus development on the second platform (and besides, in most instances where you've had a PS3 and 360 version of the same game, if there was any significant difference in the visual quality it's actually been more common for the PS3 to be the one with inferior visuals, ironically).
Just accept it. Despite all the PR bs Sony peddled and the facts on paper that have now proven to be meaningless in application, it's abundantly clear at this point that the only truly tangible difference between the 360 and the PS3's capabilities is that the PS3 can store more data on the disks. Outside of that, if anything, the 360 has an advantage, since it's easier to code for.
P.S. Oh and btw? Quoting a developer from a studio as mediocre as Volition isn't terribly compelling testimony in the first place.
im a proud 360 owner, but i do believe that sony's ps3 is more future proof. remember how long it took for the ps2 to start having killer titles. if developers spent more time into learning how to code games for the ps3 correctly and make games mirroring mgs4, i think the ps3 could be an amazing console system in the near future.
ahaha thats so funny dude i was thinking exactly the same thing, they keep rehashing stuff about how the ps2 was a dominant console but what they fail to realise is that there was literally no competition, also the blu ray stuff was hilarious, they act like they single handedly won the "HD DVD" war (not the brand)
Anyways, this is just dumb. How is 360 a child's toy? For the most part, all the games on ps3 are also on 360. The only difference is that there are a lot of kids on XBL. Like #2 said, there really hasn't been a big difference. When it comes down to it, owning a game on 360 is far superior because of XBL alone.
Sony is not winning the console war. I own a PS3 and I am disappointed with the game lineup, even more so now that Star Ocean 4 is going to the 360. I was going to buy a 360 eventually anyway, or I can just jack my girlfriends, she doesnt use it that much anyway.
Sony is losing the console war this gen so far, but they won the more important war, the HD war. They sacrificed the PS3 to win a more profitable war. Since they helped create blue ray they will reap residuals on every blue ray disk sold, and every blue ray player sold. This war is more profitable in the end due to the larger audience that wants to watch HD movies than just gamers. Gaming is established for the most part, the HD boom just started. CDs are still the medium of printing for music and has been for more than most of you can remember. If Blue Ray can have the longevity that the CD had then it is more important to win the HD war then it is the console war.
Sony can rectify its mistakes next generation if they care enough.
