hook me up with some pointers on shooting in this game..i play it like 1.6 too much and i guess thats obviously not the way to be playing it since its more like source..i mean im not great in cod4 or anything..but ill be aiming at someone and shooting and i'll hit them a few times..they wont die and then they just run and spray and own me every time..it gets outa control..is that really the way to play this game..run and spray? pretty retarded if it is..
i guess its good to spray, aim at body, maybe aim a little ahead of them if they're running - depends on the server you're playing on and your connection. you can burst but i find people don't judge you as much in cod4 as cs and care if you're f0rest or bigal. the reason i say aim at the body is because headshots are kind of hard to get in cod4 depending on the gun.

if ur gonna spray at a guy just make sure ur crosshair is on him.. theres no recoil really so just aim for his body..and try strafe back and forth while shooting.
you'll get better the more you play. luckily i had gears of war to teach me how to aim properly with the analogs long before halo3/cod4 came out. i recommend putting the end of your thumb centered on top of the right analog, i know it helps me make easy micro movements. also, these things are insane:
In cod, bunnyhop and spray close range, long range try to find some cover and iron site. Spray as much as possible pretty much. Don't bother aiming for the head. The hit boxes suck and headshots do no extra damage, whether foot or head its all the same damage. Just aim in general direction and spray.
just use ak47 and just tap the fire button not hold down, keep your aim under control and ak is over owered so youll get them , if there within average 10metres just blast the hell out of your deagle.
This game is pretty easy. Yeah, I get pretty raged when people just spray me down after I've shot them with my gun for hours. The key to it though is being a step ahead of everyone and just being prepared like CS. Stay in one spot make sure where you can get hit from are clear, or that you don't need to look over there because the walls. Then just keep aiming and waiting for people to peek out. You learn pretty fast if you play in pugs, because the people in the pugs are just amazing and know what they are doing.
its wayyy different than cs. in cs you have to pay attention to what's going on and have good strats and be carefull and have skills such as aiming. in cod4 you just run around and rape everyone and the things that you take for granted that you do in cs like smart movement. are what makes you a good player. seriously all you need is good movement and you can win a lot. i used to play in gb (and now im looking for a team :o ) and all my team did was run around and kill everything and we won a lot. overthinking in this game is bad and you have to move quickly especially since 82% of your deaths will come from randomly tossed grenades, 8% will come from grenades that were cooked/thrown to you on purpose, and 9.9% are from being shot and .1% are from killing yourself.
In conclusion, just move a lot and dont be stupid.
and i just realized your post was about just the shooting but I dont want to erase all of my hard work so.. use and m4 or g36 which have literally no recoil. the m16 kills quickly. the ak has recoil but its nothing compared to cs. just tap the trigger and you'll be fine.
I play cs and a lot of my real life friends play cod4 on xbox so I started playing and I noticed I have a lot more control when aiming if i put my sensitivity all the way down to 1 ( Low)
instantly recognize their movement and aim accordingly i.e. if he's sprinting, aim ahead towards where he's running to and if he's sprinting at you just hope to god you don't get shanked and hold down ur fire button
