Week 2 with Editor in Chief, Mike Antebi as he looks for more progress during the Wii Diet.
Moving on to week two, I had high hopes. I am coming off a two pound loss and I was looking forward to start seeing ongoing results. My gym partners have been active and just as excited to participate with me on a weekly basis, and my mentality to do the right thing by exercising seems to be gaining more traction for every new session that I seem to attend. Sunday April 29th My first Sunday back was pleasant. I started the day off with a couple rice cakes, which was somewhat unsatisfying due to a stomach ache. I managed to get through to lunch as my stomach pains subsided and enjoyed myself a delicious subway sandwich. Subway has introduced some fresh new sides to accompany a sandwich by now including bags of apples, raisins or yogurt instead of potato chips. I welcomed the move, and promptly swapped my Baked Lays (which I laid off for a while), for apples. All of my sandwiches have been on wheat bread, and include a healthy portion of vegetables and light mayo. I tend to eat very quickly, so I get full very fast, thus being effective for me. That evening I went out with some friends and had a Cajun Chicken sandwich with some fries. The fries weren’t the best of ideas, but I felt good by not drinking a beer and sticking to water, unlike my friends who enjoy themselves a brew. It was tempting to drink the beer, since I love it so dearly, but for the time being, I would better off without it, besides the fries did enough. That evening I enjoyed a Wii of a good time, mixing up baseball, tennis and boxing for roughly 2 hours. Monday April 30th Rice cakes again in the morning, this time to a decent stomach. For lunch I handled a Subway Club sandwich. Typically I can’t stand these subs, but I wanted to stay under 6 grams of fat and minimal calories, so I did it anyway. I broke away from my typical waters, and substituted it with a Diet Coke. Dinner was a bit later than usual, but it was good and it had to be quick. I went to Wendy’s (but before you are shocked), and ordered a chicken breast sandwich (not fried), plain, with a side salad and yogurt and granola cup to boot. I really thought that was a sensible dinner to be honest. Considering the very fattening choices I could have chosen, a non-fried chicken breast sandwich really cannot be bad. I reviewed over the Wendy’s Nutrition fact site (http://www.wendys.com/food/Nutrition.jsp) and checked it out for myself. Weighing in at only 8grams (g) of fat and 320 calories, it was certainly a decent purchase. The next chicken sandwich in comparison was nearly 500 calories and over double the fat, at 20g. After class, I played on my Wii for about 45 minutes with my dad and work out buddy Ricky, before heading to the gym at around 11pm. After an hour workout, stressing arms, but mainly cardio, we headed to the sauna to relax and sweat off a couple more pounds! (Or so I hope!) The sauna was especially relaxing, especially after 20 minutes. Being the big Italian boy that I am, sweat comes easily, and the sauna exploited the hell out of me! It was off to the showers and off to bed. |
