The latest from Editor in Chief, Mike Antebi's journey throught the Wii Diet.

Wii Diet Day 1 - Week 1 - Monday

Today I woke up just a bit earlier than normal to eat breakfast. I quickly showered, did my usual business, and got ready for work. When 8:20 a.m. rolled around and I ate a Smart Start cereal bar which was quite delicious.

So the Wii diet has begun. Some of my colleagues around work knew that I had started the diet, a few were friendly about it, but most were sarcastic.

I had to admit my day started out pretty well. I felt energized and I didn’t feel hungry. My eyes did glance at the clock occasionally as I pondered what I should tackle for lunch. Near my work I have a few options:

Panda Express
Jack in the Box
Pick Up Stix
Porter Ranch Pizza
Subway
Soup Plantation
In N’ Out
McDonalds
TGI Fridays
Islands

So, for the healthy conscious person, my options are somewhat limited and it seems as though as well as being on the Wii Diet, I may be on the Jared Diet. I had myself a footlong Subway Club, which is less than 6 grams of fat, as noted, with light mayo and a Diet Coke. My beverage choice I see will probably have to change to water, but I probably won’t deny myself a diet soda, because I normally drink diet soda.

Anyone can play the Wii!

The rest of the day went smoothly. I have class in the evening, so when I got home at 5:45, I relaxed for a few minutes and had a turkey breast sandwich with lettuce and tomatoes on weird bread. That held me over for my class which lasted until about 9:15. I grabbed a handful of assorted berries: strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries from Whole Foods, so that was a nice little treat. I previously made arrangements to hit the gym at 11:00 p.m., so I drove over to the local Ralph’s (Kroger for the mid-west and easters) and picked up some oatmeal and cereal for the coming week.

Since I joined up with a gym, I wanted to start out on a good note. My workout buddy’s name is Joel. We work together and now we exercise together. He is much trimmer than me and his goals are a bit different than mine, but we work on similar parts of the body. Every trip to the gym is a different group of muscles to work on and tonight was legs. We handled several pieces of equipment, including the treadmill, exercise bike, and step master (which was surprisingly difficult). We also kicked ourselves into gear with some weights on the legs, to get us all loosened up.

When I got home, I was tired… Very tired. From waking up at 8 a.m., then having work from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., class from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., then gym from 11 p.m. to 12 a.m., I was beat. Day 1, check.
