Wii used to get child back to normal after kidnapping Ben Ownby, who had been returned to his family only a few weeks ago, is trying to get back to normal life. Ben was kidnapped by a deranged man, who also held another boy for four years. Police and FBI agents found and rescued them, returning them to their parents. According to the Associated Press, Ownby's family got him a surprise gift. After returning from Boy Scout training, Ben came home to find his family and a large wrapped present waiting for him. Nearly everyone in his family pitched in and got him a Nintendo Wii. "Oh my God," he said. "What is it?" someone called. "The Wii," he said in shock, referring to the newest Nintendo video game system. More than a dozen of Ben's relatives chipped in to get him the gift. An avid player, Ben said he wants to design video games when he grows up. And be a pilot. A fast-talking kid with a logical mind, Ben rattles off the names of his favorite jets and video game makers with equal enthusiasm." The Nintendo Wii has been very difficult to come by, even following the holiday rush. While a video game system cannot reverse the emotional trauma caused by a kidnapping, it does show console gaming in a more positive light as a means to cope with what can sometimes be an overwhelming reality. |
