Nintendo Wii: Nintendo to lose millions?

With two "recalls" at the same time, is it possible for Nintendo to lose millions?

With two product failures landing in Nintendo's lap, will it cost them?

Most notably have been the Wii injuries, due to the weak strap on the Wiimote. The straps are now being recalled, for a heavy duty strap. The former straps were about 0.024 inches; with the new straps being nearly double that at 0.04 inches in diameter. Nintendo is voluntarily exchanging the straps (3.2 million or so), and not calling this a "recall". This "exchange" could cost Nintendo millions.

There also happens to be a recall on Nintendo DS AC adapters. The AC adapters could possibly overheat, and cause serious burns or a fire on "rare occasions". Though no cases of such have been reported, Nintendo is still recalling nearly 200,000 adapters.

Could this affect Nintendo sales for the rest of the holiday season? According to the initial report from Technology News and In-Stat senior analyst Brian O'Rourke, they don’t think it will be much of a problem.
