Nintendo Wii: Nintendo Gets Physical

Can the Wii bring the workout from the gym to the living room? If it means more time for gaming, it's all the better to us!
According to Personal Computer World UK, Nintendo is planning to market the potential health benefits of playing Wii games. Nintendo president Satoru Iwata stated at Tokyo's Foreign Correspondents' Club that the new health-focused games currently planned for development are more likely to attract older players and women.

This announcement keeps true to the company's objective of making the Wii accessible to all people, not just experienced gamers. This may seem ironic in light of the recent incidents involving the Wiimotes but Nintendo remains hopeful that with proper instruction and mindful usage by gamers, the Wii will do more good than harm. It is speculated by the Japanese media that add-ons may be developed to accompany these health-focused games, such as bio-feedback attachments to monitor heart rate, blood pressure, and pulse rates. Nintendo has yet to issue a comment on that possibility.
