While not fully acknowledging greatness, the publication is still giving kudos to the Wii's "groundbreaking control". "Console Profile: Groundbreaking Control. Since Nintendo doesn't have an interest in participating in an arms race against Sony and Microsoft when it comes to processors, graphics chips, and multimillion game development budgets, the console veteran decided to think outside the box. In perhaps the most ambitious move in console history, Nintendo is sticking with antiquated technology to focus on a much simpler idea: immersive gameplay. Nintendo has become concerned about games being too difficult for the average consumer, so it has developed a brand-new interface with a motion-sensing controller. Instead, Nintendo developed a controller you can swing, tilt, pull back, or push forward to affect the in-game action. Swing the controller like a baseball bat for games on the diamond, or hack and slash like you're holding a sword in action games. For more complicated games, Nintendo also includes an analog stick attachment known as a Nunchuk that plugs into the controller. The controller will have a built-in speaker and rumble feature to make games even more immersive. The Wii will also be Nintendo's first Wi-Fi capable console with an online gateway for a variety of easy-to-use, interactive media, entertainment, and communication functions. For a small fee, you'll be able to download classic games from the Nintendo Entertainment System, Super Nintendo Entertainment System, Nintendo64, Sega Genesis, and Turbo Grafix libraries straight to your console." The article places LAPTOP alongside Maxim Magazine and Men's Health as publications to feature the Wii since its highly successful launch this past November. Even more print media coverage is sure to be expected as the Wii continues to remain in high demand and release newer game titles. --- Related: Wii Hardware Gallery | Wii "gotta-have" Product for Holiday Season | Nintendo Wii Invades eBay |
