Nintendo Wii: 30,000+ Wii Pre-Orders in Australia

We've got the numbers on the latest Wii pre-orders in Australia. Needless to say, records are expected to be broken.
Quick news comes in today from "Australia's biggest-selling daily newspaper." The Herald Sun reported this morning that over 30,000 Australians have pre-ordered Nintendo's "new-gen" console, the Nintendo Wii, which is set to fly off shelves in Australia at 12:00am, Thursday, December 7th.

Nintendo just recently surpassed the 1 million units sold mark, world wide, with its launch in the United States and Japan. To compare, that already accounts for nearly a sixth of all 360's sold world wide, since its (360's) launch more than a year ago. As IGN reports, Australian console records are on pace to be broken, too. "Up to this point, the Xbox 360 was the fastest selling console in Australia, shifting 30,000 units in four days," said Patrick Kolan. "With that same number already preordered, we expect the Wii will easily break that record."

More on the Australian Wii launch as it develops.
