Nintendo Wii: PS3 Ad Spoof

By: David Light - Published December 03, 2006 at 7:38 PM EST - Writer Archive
A dedicated Nintendo Wii fan has put together something quite interesting for the community.
Many of the DPAD community may be familiar with a particular Sony SIXAXIS ad, that saw a single PS3 controller remotely control about a dozen eggs around a room, until finally slamming them into a wall in dramatic fashion. The commercial, a part of Sony's Play B3yond ad campaign, was designed to familiarize consumers with the PS3's SIXAXIS controller - named for its ability to detect motion "in the full six degrees." The Wii-like technology was even candidly commented on by Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto not long after Sony's announcement, in an interview with CNNMoney.

Today, however, we find a user-made ad bearing a striking, nay, uncanny resemblance to Sony's PS3 SIXAXIS ad. In rather frightful fashion, the ad showcases a jet black Wii remote and system - a far cry from the more inviting, white Nintendo theme - doing what it does best, shooting down random objects in the air!

Check out Sony's SXIAXIS ad, and then take a gander at the spoof if you don't believe us.

What do you think of the spoof?
Much better than the real thing!
Um... the eggs look like clay orbs.
Would have been better if the eggs were barrels, and little Donkey Kongs popped out of the wall.
