Nintendo Wii: (S)NES Wii Adapters!

By: David Light - Published December 03, 2006 at 4:16 AM EST - Writer Archive
You knew it was going to happen... and we're glad it did!
Retrousb, a small retro controller port maker has put out word on both an NES and SNES controller adapter for the Wii. To be made available in January of 2007, the NES adapater will plug directly into the Wii's GameCube port to allow players to play classic NES games on Nintendo's Virtual Console the way they were intended. The SNES version, however, is slated more tentatively for a Q1 07 release.

Nintendo, however, also have their own classic controller solution with their classic controller, originally revealed at E3 earlier this year. With the classic controller, users will not have to buy an adapter, such as what Retrousb provides, and will be able to play with a controller very similar to (albeit a bit, eh em, fatter than)  "old-gen" remotes.

(S)NES controller adapters. You game?
I can't exactly find my controllers! :(
I'll stick with the classic remote.
Mario wouldn't have it any other way!
