Nintendo Wii: Elebits First To Use WiiConnect24

By: David Light - Published November 28, 2006 at 8:06 PM EST - Writer Archive
Word has come in on the first title set to see support for WiiConnect24.
According to translations done by N-Sider, popular Japanese video game publication Famitsu has revealed in an interview that Konami's Elebits will be the first title to make use of the Wii's WiiConnect24 online service. Hitting shelves first in Japan in early December of this year, the quirky Pikman look-a-like title will be able to connect with publishers and other users across the region while the Wii is suspended. This revelation does more than substantiate rumors of player-designed levels for transfer, it actually confirms it, among other things such as: Exchange of in-game photos and the ability to receive professionally designed game levels directly from Konami.

While it has not yet been made clear whether or not Konami downloaded content will cost a fee, it should be noted that the WiiConnect24 service in essence is a free service, so it wouldn't be too far fetched to assume Konami will provide the levels free of charge. For a game like Elebits, which relies solely on finding and zapping more Elebits, a possible continued flow of new content to engage in from not only Konami, but other players, can be expected to further strengthen the longevity of the upcoming title. Elebits hits U.S residents on December, 19th, 2006.

How much are you looking forward to Elebits?
First time I've heard of it.
It doesn't sound very exciting, actually.
It's around the top of my list for 2006!
I'd rather spend the money on another remote.
