12 Virtual Console games are expected on launch day, with 18 to follow.
Thanks to a press release issued by Nintendo of America, we now know that Donkey Kong (NES), SimCity (SNES), Super Mario 64 (N64), Sonic the Hedghog (Genesis) and Bomberman '93 (TurboGrafx16) are among the 12 confirmed games to be available for a small download fee on Wii Day from Nintendo's Virtual Console system. More games are set to become available every Monday following launch, purchasable with Wii points, with an expected 30 by year's end.

Wii Points will be Nintendo's answer to Xbox Live's Microsoft Points. Players will be able to purchase Wii Points through the Wii Shop Channel that is integrated into the console, or at retail. The base cost for each Virtual Console title is dependent upon its platform. NES games start at 500 Wii Points, TurboGrafx16 at 600, the SEGA Genesis at a respectable 800 and the N64 topping the shop at 1,000 Wii Points.
