Nintendo Wii: Wii Classic Controller

How on earth will we ever really play those classic Nintendo games on Wii? Read on...

It would seem as though Nintendo tried to give us the slip when they released a plethora of Wii hardware images for E3. Unfortunately for Nintendo, our name is DPAD. That is similar to releasing a new Sonic game and expecting SEGA to not know about it or making a DBZ game and pretending FUNimation will not shut it down.

The singular image of the Wii Classic controller likely stands to emphasize that while Nintendo wants to take that "next step," it is still looking to support those nostalgia driven fans. With the standard L, R, X, Y, A, B control scheme and newly integrated dual joysticks, the Wii Classic controller looks like a souped up and pimped out 2006 incarnation of the SNES remote. With the ability to download 20 years worth of classic Nintendo games directly to the Wii system, it only seems fitting that the full effect of the games can be felt as they were intended. The Wii Classic remote (click to launch the gallery)

Now, if only we can make this wireless, give it motion sensor technology and a power button. Oh, wait...

You can check out more pictures of the Nintendo Wii and its games in our ever-updating gallery. Be sure to keep it paused on DPAD as E3 gets underway!
