AWESOME! SSB with Pit + Solid Snake = this game can not go wrong. Although, it's very likely this is the release date is gonna be stretched out to far 2007, judging from a couple of interviews I've read. Which isn't really bad, I'm not the most impatient person ^^
Whatever it takes to make the game good. Besides, there'll be plenty of other titles to enjoy for the time being.
The game was originally going to be pushed as a launch title, but I'm guessing getting the development team in place took longer than expected. So with that in mind, I bet it will be released in the first quarter of 2007. The wait won't be a long one ;)

they just said having 4 players online might be tough. But the online thing is like DS, dumb friend codes D:
