Sony Playstation Portable: Eidos launches Zendoku website

As if the Sudoku craze had not taken over enough of America, Zendoku promises to entertain the thousands of young gamers who will pick up the title for PSP or Nintendo DS.
A colorful new game is coming to the Playstation Portable and Nintendo DS, Zendoku. The game allows gamers to battle head to head in Sudoku-like challenges, completing the 9x9 grids with different symbols.

According to the official press release, "The new ZENDOKU website, featuring the same colourful and whimsical Far Eastern visual style and light-hearted martial arts theme as the game itself, hosts a range of game-related material including details of the game’s storylines and gameplay modes, character artwork and biographies, gameplay tutorials, downloadable wallpapers and themed Instant Messenger icons. The website will also host a trailer of the game to demonstrate the fun Sudoku Battle Action."

Online play will allow for two players to battle head to head to compete their grids first, or work on a team in a two-player co-op. This may be best for those of us who can't complete Sudoku without the jerk in the office down the hall butting in and telling us where we can place a 7 and arguing logic.

Office politics aside, Zendoku will follow in the footsteps of popular learning titles for the Nintendo DS such as Brain Age and Big Brain Academy, which have been met with overwhelming popularity from a large age group. For PSP fans, Zendoku will start to provide the type of entertainment most commonly associated with Nintendo products.

Game modes will include Quest, Zen, Attack Box and Classic Sudoku that will offer five difficulty levels (I'll stick to Easy, thank you very much).

Martin Hollis, best known for his work as director and producer of GoldenEye 007 for Nintendo 64, will be heading up the Zendoku project.
