Sony Playstation 3: Gamer Disclaimer: Haze

The Sweet Taste of Nectar
Shane, who begins as a Mantel soldier, has access to a Nectar tank throughout the game. Having an accesible tank of Nectar serum certainly has its share of cool features, such as the Nectar foresight ability and a heightened sense of awareness. Enemies are highlighted and obsolete objects that clog your sight are hidden from view when Shane is in a heightened state of Nectar euphoria, and the foresight ability sparks pre-emptive visions that warn Shane and squad members of imminent dangers like the trajectory path of an enemy grenade. But be warned: these abilities must be used sparingly. Whenever too much Nectar is filtered into the blood stream, your character will behave very erratically; his vision will become blurry and his finger will ram down on the trigger, shooting any target in sight.

Gameplay is fast-paced and invigorating, featuring heavy doses of close-quarter weapon combat and gritty melee altercations. Players can throw punches, swing weapons and even brutally kick opponents to ensure the kill. Ubisoft actually developed a unique graphical engine for Haze, even though using an existing system would have saved a lot of time. Ubisoft directors claimed they opted for an original engine for "...more freedom in the features and game design." Based on trailers, gameplay specs and walkthroughs, the graphic system looks and feels a lot like previous Ubisoft title Assassin's Creed, with obvious advancements and differences in the environment and characters.

Multiplayer: Fast and Furious
Multiplayer features a cooperative campaign option with up to the four playable characters both online and offline. Online deathmatches can also hold up to 24 players and truly take advantage of the Playstation 3's superior online capabilites. On that note, though this game was slated to be released on multiple systems including the Xbox 360 and the PC, developers at Ubisoft decided they will only release the game on Sony's Playstation 3 console. Which, in the end, could be one of the biggest problems general gamers will find with Haze. But in late-May, when the game is slated for release, those lucky gamers with PS3's can enjoy exclusive access to, what is sure to be, one of the hottest first-person shooter titles of 2008.
