You will feel like you’re taking a blast from the past in this WWII fighting Sim sequel.

In Blazing Angels 2, you’ll be flying as the leader of an elite undercover squadron called Operation Wildcard. Working for the American government, your mission is to foil the Third Reich’s plans to develop a weapon of mass destruction. Missions will generally take you to locations all over the world, such as Moscow, Rome, China, the Baltic Sea, the Swiss Alps, and the Himalayas. In this sequel, you will notice that the cities will be much larger and far more detailed to its predecessor. Also, whilst playing the game you’ll find an arcade-style point scoring system that will award you prestige points for every time you or one of your wingmen takes down an enemy. You’ll also be able to earn points by performing stunts, such as flying fast and low to the ground or going under a low bridge, it’s pretty much guaranteed you would be doing this stuff already.

Between levels, you have opportunities to spend those prestige points you earned in the previous missions on a number of different upgrade options. Some of these upgrades are squad training, larger fuel or ammo capacities, improved gun sights or weapon range, tougher armor, and so on. These upgrades will be applied to every plane in your hangar when you purchase them, so you won’t need to worry about having a plane that you’ve spent a lot of points on becoming worthless later in the game. The game will feature more than 50 aircrafts in total, including plenty that were actually used in WWII and quite a few that never made it past the drawing board. Probably the most noteworthy modification added to the plans is close-range defensive weaponry, which will include an engine-clogging smoke screen, a rear-firing shotgun, and even a Tesla coil device that can mess with numerous enemies simultaneously if they get too close.

Multiplayer will also be available in Blazing Angels 2, options will include free-for-all deathmatch, capture the flag, assault, epic battle, and co-op modes of play. During gameplay you won’t just be playing in certain times, they will vary from night to day and all levels will not be the same as you’ll have different objectives for each one. Also, again, for the locations, most of them are inspired by true events that happened in WWII, so it’s basically like looking back into the history of war which should intrigue and interest some people. For example, there is the mission in Moscow which was a parade organized by Stalin in order to bolster the morale of his suffering people. The soldiers paraded through the Red Square and then went directly on the front; it was a very dramatic moment and will be captured in the game. There will be lots of that throughout the game and should show some details in war that were rarely talked about in school and such.

Developed by Ubisoft Romania, this looks beautiful and the gameplay is typical to your air combat games; and will be released this month. If you’re into WWII games, then this is the one you would want to pick up if you’re not into the large amount of WWII FPS’ that are being released.
