Mark Rein has stated on the official Epic forums that there is "no guarantee" on a November Unreal Tournament III release for the Playstation 3, saying that he doesn't want to rush the game out the door unfinished (Gears of War). Next-Gen.biz believes that this is hinting towards yet another PS3 delay, while GI.biz thinks this hints that there will be no PS3 exclusivity. As of now the PS3 has UTIII a timed exclusive over the 360 version, but the time frame would be shortened, if not completely removed, if this title is delayed a significant amount of time.

On the business side of things Sony absolutely needs this title to get out before this holiday season. Their big titles -- Final Fantasy, Killzone 2 and Metal Gear Solid 4 -- are not due out till early 2008. Being a timed exclusive through the holiday season Unreal Tournament III would definitely hold them over until the releases of the aforementioned titles. But, I don't think Epic would ruin the name one of their most beloved games by releasing it too soon. There's also rumors circulating of a $400 Playstation 3 SKU; that combined with the prompt release of Unreal Tournament III would without a doubt boost sales.
