Sony Playstation 3: Killzone to Debut in July

According to Phil Harrison, Sony Computer Entertainment's President of Worldwide Studios, Killzone 2 will have an E3 appearance.

Last night Phil Harrison displayed the first in-game footage of Killzone 2 to the media that went to his pre-GDC conference.

The hi-def footage was to show an example of their technology--the newly released "Playstation Edge." Playstation Edge is a tool provided to developers, enabling them to access the Playstation 3's otherwise difficult power, much easier. The package includes a RSX performance analyzer and GCMReplay.

At the end of the footage, E3 flashed across the screen which was followed by a statement made by Phil Harrison. The next appearance Killzone 2 will have is in July.

i hope it looks better than halo3. if its better than halo i think maybe the ps3 will make its way back to being the best. just maybe?

Well, this game is supposed to show the strength of the PS3 and their new program "Playstation Edge", so there's a chance.

graphics don't make a game #1

but i'm hoping this game makes a dent in some ps3 sales because we all know they've recently been needing it

i knw that 3# but they do help, and the game play in the first one wasnt bad. i think europe will save the ps3. i knw in ireland ps2 was the biggest saler so i hope the ps3 will be.

The game shown at GDC was never confirmed to be KZ2 at all, rather it was labeled "Killzone" and was a demonstration of the new playstation edge tool for the PS3. Just thought I would clear that up for anyone who cares.

The first real footage of KZ2 will likely be shown at E3 this year and apparently there will be a hefty amount of new information released.

Heres to KZ2 living up to the hype!

hopefully not as bad as the first one. and this game will not come near halo3 btw.

I'm sure Guerilla is doing their best not to disappoint #6. And since you have a crystal ball that sees into the future, who should i bet my money on to win the NCAA bracket?

I wouldn't put too much faith in Bungie, Halo 2 was one of the biggest disappointments I have ever seen. Hopefully they make a real effort to not ruin the storyline in this one.

I would actually expect Killzone 2 to look better than Halo 3. I don't think Bungie is particularly pushing the envelope on the graphical aspect of Halo 3.

Regardless, #10 has it. I suspect Killzone 2 will just end up being a glorified tech demo with generic and formulaic gameplay. Nothing special, outside the eye-candy.

The more significant topic here is the "Edge" development tool. If it really ends up being effective in greatly alleviating the PS3's current developmental woes, that should give a significant boost to the PS3's future prospects. Not enough to catch up with the 360 (only doing away with the price-point margin will accomplish that), but at least enough to ensure that the PS3 won't be a total disaster this generation.

Games are preferance, i personally thought halo : 2 could have been a LOT better, and i thought halo : 1 was godly and i liked it better than halo : 2. big whoop, i can hold 2 pistols now, yippee.

Graphics look awesome and there is no doubt about that. I'll have to wait before I make any judgments on the gameplay though.

#3 "accessing ps3 difficult power" doesnt nessceraily mean just graphics. Using the ps3 power could enhance A.I., Larger maps and levels and smoother gameplay

Well im playing the 1st killzone on ps2 atm , i hated it when it was first released and still do in a way!

You hit the w4nk3rs 5 times in the head and they still dont die. Them aliens or w/e must be on speed or something to survive that damage ffs!

To sum it all up - UNREALISTIC!
