After much speculation, Sony has put the rumors to rest and European gamers can look forward to an official launch on March 23 for the Playstation 3. European gamers can expect a full lineup of games for the high-end console as well. The thirty launch titles include highly anticipated games like Motorstorm, Resistance: Fall of Man and Genji: Days of the Blade (see below for a full list of games).

The European Playstation 3 will be packaged much like that of the United States and Japan, including a single SIXAXIS controller and standard composite cables. The system will cost gamers £425 in the UK and 599 Euros throughout the continent, and only the 60 GB model will be available. The lack of a 20 GB console at launch is not a massive surprise due to its lack of success in Japan and preference for the 60 GB model in existing markets. The PS3 will also launch with firmware update 1.50, with the planned 1.60 ready for download shortly after launch.

European gamers can expect 1 million consoles to be available at launch but official numbers of release by region or nation are not available at this time.
