Most veteran gamers will remember the Midway classics of Joust, Rampage World Tour, Mortal Kombat II, Gauntlet II, Championship Sprint and Rampart. For this reason, Sony Online Entertainment announced that they will be bringing these six classics to the PS3.

"This is a great opportunity for SOE and Midway to come together to bring these arcade treasures to the next-generation of gaming on the PlayStation 3," stated Sr. Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Sony Online Entertainment John Needham. "SOE will continue to explore additional opportunities to bring fun and unique digital content to the PlayStation Network."

"We knew these titles would be a perfect fit for the PLAYSTATION Network, and based on Sony Online Entertainment's legacy in the online space as well as their intimate knowledge of the PLAYSTATION Network, it was an obvious decision they would be a top company to work with to bring this project to fruition," said Midway's Chief Marketing Officer Steve Allison.

Sony stated the main reason behind these first six was their multiplayer ability, as they will be adding online play for all six of the Midway games. The price point for the games has not been released yet, but gamers can expect to see the first games to appear Q1 2007.
