Since the original Call of Duty, Sony fans sat back and watched the PC and Xbox users get a taste of the real thing; while we played the watered down version. Now with the PS3, Sony loyalists get the same experience as the rest.

Most WWII games throw you into the fight before and during D-Day. COD 3 is going to take players to the days after D-Day, fighting to maintain the control of France in Operation Cobra. Single-player action will be based on these intense battles of moving the allies in and Hitler out. COD 3 will unite the American, Canadian, Polish, and British forces as you maneuver through the game playing as all four allies.

Gamers will be familiar with standard game play of “gun and run,” but that is just the start of how you will progress through the game. Missions will have you make your way through European territories as you move from one Allied force to another. You may find yourself as an American soldier fighting your way up a hill controlled by German forces, at this point you may find yourself with many choices: sniper action, fighting it out in the trenches, or clear them out with explosives. Another option will have you riding along as a spotter, using binoculars to paint your target. The best addition to the game will be the cut-scene battle mode. What looks like a cut-scene turns out to be a battle of survival as you have hit your L1 / R1 buttons at the right time to not only maintain control, but to stay alive. The new feature will also be included during the disabling of traps, the creating of explosives, as well as several other challenges throughout the game.

Some other features will have you performing pinpoint parachute drops, raids, armored assaults, and bombardment of the enemy with tank shells. You will also be driving your tank through blockades and invading the enemy forces. With all these new options you will have a feeling of being in the trenches with your allies that you have never felt before.

Single-player action is not the only area being improved. Multi-player action will be getting an overhaul. You will now be able to have as much as 24 players battling it out with a wider range of classes to assist you on your way to victory. Classes will include special abilities assigned only to them; such as medics to heal your wounded, or rifleman to scope out the enemy from a distance. You will also have scouts, infantry, and several others. The next addition to your online mode will be multiple occupancy vehicles allowing one to drive and others to focus on laying down machine gun fire. Other vehicles will include jeeps, tanks and motorcycles with sidecars.

Barely a year has past since COD 2 has been released, so you may get the feeling COD 3 is being rushed to take advantage of the next generation of consoles. We will have to have confidence in Treyarch to produce a top notch game, something that we have come to expect in COD. Seeing everything they have promised we expect FPS and WWII gamers to be more than impressed with COD 3.
