On Jan. 18, the official 2008 GotFrag.com Madden rankings were released, labeling the top 50 Madden NFL players in the world. Until the 2009 rankings are launched, there will be three updates over the course of the year. Here is the post Player's Bowl update featuring some shifting in positions. The next updates will be provided post-Mega Bowl. The third coming in the middle of the Madden Challenge.

Eric "Problem" Wright cemented himself even further in to the No. 1 spot with his win over Big Game James at this year's Player's Bowl. Big Game James, who fell near the bottom of the initial rankings, being considered more of a Playstation 2 powerhouse, jolted from No. 49 to No. 30 with his Player's Bowl finals appearance. Dan "Truth" Brown was another riser due to his performance at the Player's Bowl jumping from No. 32 to No. 16. Brown was an online qualifier in the Madden Challenge this year, and fell in the first round of the finals. This stronger performance at Player’s Bowl may have given him those convincing wins the panel was looking for.

Anthony "Young Nephew" Brinson broke the top 5 after being ranked No. 8 in the original rankings. Nephew also had a strong showing in the Player's Bowl and has shown consistent success in the past year in every tournament he has participated in. Along with those shifts in positioning, many established gamers have broken in to the lower portion of the rankings, pushing out talented, but inactive gamers.
