Guten tag! Liefje and THE_TACTICAL from CGS Berlin are rounded up for an interview on DPADs tour around the world.

Next stop, Europe! Livia Teernstra better known as Liefje and Rudolf Fischer aka THE_TACTICAL answer some questions about their Dead or Alive life! Check it out.

First, tell us a bit about yourselves, where are you from, how long have you been playing and some hobbies other than gaming?

Livia: My name is Livia "Liefje" Teernstra and I'm 21-years-old. I grew up in New Zealand but about two years ago I moved to Sweden to live in a gaming house with my teammates. I have been playing video games for as long as I can remember, starting with Stickybear ABC on the Apple II. I have a long background in PC gaming (especially 1v1 FPS) and only recently have
picked up DoA4 on the Xbox. Other than gaming I love to travel and see new places. I also love to cook :)

Liefje among others being too cool for school

Rudolf: My name is Rudolf Fischer. I'm from Germany and I'm 20-years-old. I play DoA4 for two years. My hobbies are gaming, table tennis, football, and partying with friends.

What is it like playing on a global stage competitively in the DOA4 arena?

Livia: It's a little different than playing in a regular tournament. There are a lot of lights and cameras which you really must learn to ignore if you're going to play your best game. Also you're playing for a team so sometimes there's the added pressure of gathering as much points as possible for them.

How do family and friends react when you tell them you're busy playing video games, and training like anyone would for a job?

Livia: My family think it's pretty cool, especially with all the travel I get to do. They now realize it's more than a hobby and are very happy that I get paid to do something I love. My friends don't really understand it but I guess could be a bit envious since it doesn't really seem like "work."

Rudolf: It's all right for my family. They say: not everybody has a chance like you. Try it and make your own experience. My friends think it's very cool. You get paid for gaming, it's a dream =)

Hypothetical question, if DOA4 is not supported by CGS as a competitive game, are you willing to change games to keep playing competitively?

Livia: It depends on what game I could change to. As I mentioned I do have a background in 1v1 FPS so if it were one of those games then I wouldn't have a problem switching, I'd probably be on a higher level than I am at DOA right now.

Rudolf: I think, yes I would change games. I mean, I'm good in other games, too. It wouldn't be a big problem for me.

Rudolf, I understand Germans can be quite the fierce competitors, do you have any pre-game ritual that you like to do to prepare yourself for a match?

Rudolf: No not really, if you think too much about that then you will get nervous. I try just to go out and play DoA like at home. I think that's the best what I can do.

Livia, how can you describe the face of a competitor once you've destroyed them in a match?

Livia: In DOA, that's yet to happen in a tournament match so I can't really explain it. But it has happened in other games I've played competitively and sometimes the opponent will just shy away and kind of "hide" and other times they are just happy to have played and come up and say "gg" and things like that. I don't think that their faces after the match is something I really pay attention to, I'm more focused on what's going to happen next in the tournament or how the actual match went.
