There’s a good reason as to why we don’t see a lot of arcade ports on consoles.
Developer: Namco Bandai Games We were just as eager as the next guys to give our hands a try at Time Crisis 4 for the Playstation 3. In all seriousness, who wouldn’t want to have one of the world’s most successful arcade series available to them at their own leisure? With console exclusive first person shooter missions and the new GunCon 3 light gun peripheral, it truly seemed like a match made in heaven. Sadly, this game is a prime example of how it’s getting harder and harder for arcade games to compete with consoles. The Story If you’ve played any Time Crisis game before, then the story shouldn’t be at all surprising to you. The VSSE has to send two of its best agents out to investigate terrorists who managed to get their hands on a top secret government weapon. Instead of the typical nuclear bomb or crate of machine guns, however, the hijack actually involved mutant bugs known as terror bites. These oversized critters not only look like bugs on steroids, but they come in herds that will suck the life out of you. While the dialogue is comical, it’s so bad and the premise of taking the role of an exterminator isn’t overly appealing. If you’re playing Time Crisis 4 for the story you’re only setting yourself up for disappointment. |
