Madden Home: Vivendi merges with Activision

By: Michael Murray - Published December 03, 2007 at 2:05 AM EST - Writer Archive
In what seemed like one of the most random moves of the recent publishing changes, Vivendi (Blizzard) merge with Activision.
No longer holding the reigns as the largest publishing base in the world, EA Games has now been toppled by one unexpected coalition.

The new Activision Blizzard consists of Activision (known for Call of Duty 4:Modern Warfare, Guitar Hero 3) as well as Vivendi/Blizzard (known for World of Warcraft, Warcraft series) in a world turning merger. Summed up at an $18.9 billion deal in annual revenue, this will surely change the face of gaming as two of the most popular game publishers of all time will team up to take down the powerhouse known as EA games.

What this will bring in the future for games themselves, nobody knows as of yet. This WILL however bring many more possibilities to the table as Vivendi (Blizzard) hold a 52% stake of the company.
