With all the constructed criticism going around about the PlayStation 3 there been many questions in the minds of gamers.
We waited. It was a long wait on the PS3 for the fans. When it was finally released to the public on November 17, 2006, a lot of fans were happy -- for 3 seconds, that is. When fans found out that Sony only released three games, which is less than the amount that Sony released to its previous consoles, many fans were angry. Then, on January 7th, 2007 Sony finally met its goal of shipping 1 million units to North America. Though, according to the worldwide marketplace, the PlayStation 3 is still currently behind its competitor systems. Plus, Sony has been marked down for poor sales in April, which was due to the lack of software for the system. Basically, the PlayStation 2 is ahead of it. Even the PSP was doing way better than the PS3. In July, E3 07 Summit was held at Santa Monica. Many gamers and press who were invited , flocked to the event to hear news about their favorite systems and upcoming games. After all the waiting it was Sony’s turn to “Show and Tell” what new games and features are coming to their current systems. This year, Jack Tretton announced that there would be a lot of PS3 games coming out later this year and he also spoke about the price cut on the PS3, as well as the new Slim PSP. Many Sony fans and gamers were excited about the news. The fans await these promised games as we speak. So far only 2 or 3 have been released onto the shelves. Though, it’s not the holidays YET, Sony needs to hurry up and bring their game up a bit, and deliver the people what they promised. My guess is that the promise they made will be broken and we’ll all have to wait a while for those titles we’ve all been waiting for. I mean, so far we have to wait on 10 or 20 games till Spring 2008. If this is the case then why did you promise us a whole bunch of games before the year is out?! It’s pretty disappointing. But what’s more disappointing is the fact that many fans were expecting the games to come out in time for Christmas, but for some reason they’re being delayed for next year. Titles such as: Killzone And more… After discussing the issue of Sony’s game creating process and how they made us wait, one thing we sometimes wonder is, “what if they waited”. If you’re not thinking about that; just sit back, close your eyes, and take a glimpse of what your vision of the future would be. Not only of the world, but gaming as well. Who would be the competitors and would E3 be open the media and press again? Mainly, what if they waited? We all understand that making games for the PS3 is a long and difficult process. But it’s making gamers upset when they have to wait on these games [especially the ones with promising and long awaited sequels]. Sony, you need to listen to your fans. Hear what they want and know what they want. At least let us play sliced down demos on the PSP One question that lies in the minds of gamers since the beginning of the PS3 project, What if they waited? The technology seems advanced and ahead of its time. But what if they waited? What would have been the stumbling block if they had brought this out in 8 or 9 more years? Would Sony have lost money? Would their stock in the market drop or would it increase and cause an army of loyal Sony gamer fans to come back to their gaming products? The Answer: If Sony had waited, the chances of gamers using their gaming consoles and their stock crashing or going up would have been slim. Basically, a double-edged sword. I mean you’re talking about waiting a while and at the same time working on the system to make it a little better than it is now? Of course some loyal fans are going to wait but what about the time that it’s released? Would it have been a bad time to release it? Would it have been around the time that technology so far gotten so advanced that it past the PS3’s technology by 15 or 20 years? Don’t get me wrong, gamers would definitely pick this up if this was released 9-20 years later. But the real question is how many people in the world would have bought it and how much money would have been spent? Though, just by reading this, you know it and I know it; Sony would rather continue the road they’re on right now because eventually they will catch up and their product will be better than it is now. Basically this is only a theory we know. Technology is advancing but we do not know when technology will get to a point where it’s too advanced. The real question is: What do you think? |
