Madden Home: Sony: Scared or Helping?

Lair: the game Sony was hoping would help fly PS3 to the next level seems to need help being understood.
Every PlayStation3 fan waited for Lair. This was going to be the game that would launch PS3 into the next-gen race. Unfortunately most critics and more than a few gamers alike disagreed once they actually got their hands on it. Lair released to an industry average rating of 57 out of 100. Some reviewers loved the six-axis motion control but most found it taking from the game.

Now a week later Sony decides the reviewers need some help in truly understanding the game and have sent out a “Lair Reviewer’s Guide”. It arrived by mail and was filled with useful information on how the controls should work and the game played, giving the people reviewing the game a clearer understanding.

With an Intro by President of developer Factor 5, Julian Eggebrecht, "Open your mind and hands for something very different!" Now since the biggest complaint is how the control of the game is mind boggling and gamers do not have the option to switch to a standard control scheme one would guess this is what Eggebrecht is trying to solve.

Many companies send out fact sheets with their games are during a press release for the media to get a better understanding of the game, but none have released a 21 page guide of facts, characters, story line and dragons of which six pages are how to use the controller. Could this be a trend with games becoming more involved and beginning to take advantage of the motion control game play or is it a case of trying to save what little can be saved of what was supposed to be the launch pad of the PS3?
