With the latest craze that is Guitar Hero, it seems that more and more people are picking up a plastic guitar then an actual real one.
Now if you’re completely out of the loop of what I’m talking about, and have never heard of the Guitar Hero video game franchise, I’ll help you out. Basically, Guitar Hero is a video game that is the equivalent of DDR (Dance Dance Revolution) but instead of a mat, you’re using a plastic guitar with some buttons. So what you see on the screen in front of you is what you press on the guitar, just like in DDR where you stomp on the arrows respective to what you see on the screen. Another thing to point out is the fact that Guitar Hero is so big, popularity-wise; people are purchasing the game like crazy! Even though some may disagree, it is in fact keeping the PS2 alive and even more so pushing the sales of the Xbox 360. But with this, are more people buying a piece of plastic over an actual guitar?! To me it seems that they are because of the fact that Guitar Hero is so easy to pick up and play, whereas with an actual guitar, an average person would need to take lessons before even being capable to rocking out to their favorite tune. As well Guitar Hero being very easy to pick up, the expenses are a hell of a lot less than purchasing a $500 guitar, and the lessons that come with it. Whereas you just pay $60 some odd dollars for Guitar Hero and possibly another $50 for a second guitar if you want to play with a buddy. But alas, in Guitar Hero, you are restricted to the songs which are in the game while on a real guitar it’s all on you, you can create whatever music you desire with no restrictions whatsoever. A sense of gratification is also achieved with a genuine guitar because you are actually creating your own music, not mashing buttons on a piece of plastic. Guitar Hero has a wide variety of users playing it, ranging from young kids, to adults. Guitar Hero can be seen as a great game for children as well because a little child usually does not have the mindset needed to sit down and practice playing a real guitar. Page:
