Trevor "Midway" Schmidt takes a look at a promising reformed team turning heads in New Jersey. In a tough early round match up due to Perfect Storm’s new status as a team, they faced Xit Woundz, the 5th seed. It was obvious the top two players from the MLG Charlotte's FFA were going to be an excellent fit with their new team as they 3-0’d XiT Woundz on Midship in the Neutral Bomb gametype. The former Storm Ventures team from the 2006 season, now Perfect Storm, moved onto Warlock in team Slayer gametype looking for an upset. XiT Woundz kept it close closing the margin but never able to establish a lead over Perfect Storm. The final few frags went Perfect Storms way as they closed out the match 50-46. Finally XiT Woundz stepped up behind the play of KillerN who seemed like they only player all match who could stay with Perfect Storm. After grabbing the Sword and dominating the Ball he managed to help XiT Woundz rally from a one minute deficit on Lockout to win 4:07-3:57. The match seem to last forever as the two teams looked disorganized early in the map. Late in the map the teams organized defenses of the ball in the lower green hall but traded control back and forth in organized rushes. XiT Woundz's victory forced a fourth map on Midship in CTF gametype. An early cap by Perfect Storm in the first minute set the tone as they ran away with the game broadcasted on streaming video by Major League Gaming, a parent company of GotFrag.com. Perfect Storm ran away with the match pulling out to a 5-2 victory. Their next match pitted them against Nice like Rice, a surprise team from MLG Charlotte. Perfect Storm continued their Perfect play grabbing another 3-1 victory to move to the Semi-Finals where they’ll face FBI The Agency. |
