There is nothing more telling about the success of a console than the sales of its games. As the top selling next generation console, the Xbox 360 has found its way to the top of the list in many ways for the month of December, led by its #1 title, Gears of War. The Playstation 2 console continues to sell very well and its games found 9 of the 20 spots on the Top 20 sales list this month, as provided by VGCharts.

Sales are console-specific which means that sales for games on multiple platforms are ranked by platform, and not by title. For example, Madden NFL 07 appears on the list twice: #3 for Playstation 2 sales and #18 for Xbox 360 sales. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess snatched up the 5th & 6th places on the sales standings this month.
