Madden Home: MLG Anaheim Details

By: Kyle Monico - Published May 29, 2006 at 5:33 PM EDT - Writer Archive
The third event of the 2006 MLG Season, Anaheim, will be held on June 23 to June 25 with $50,000 in prizes. Will MLG Anaheim follow the precedent set by New York and Dallas of maxed out Halo 2 registration?
MLG Anaheim is a West Coast event and they are known to not be as strong with attendance; following two sold out events does not help its cause. This will be the farthest West MLG will head in the 2006 Season. With $50,000 in prize money, it's highly likely the event will break the curse of West Coast events.

MLG Anaheim Details
Location: Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, CA 92802
Date: June 23-25

Travelling, prize and other details can be found on MLG's press release on the next page.

Continuing on the already-phenomenal 2006 Pro Circuit Tour, MLG will be stopping next in Anaheim, CA for its third Regular Season Competition. On June 23-25, the West Coast will be given its chance to represent the high-caliber talent that it has bred in both the Halo 2 and Smash over the past several years. Hot on the heels of two completely sold-out tournaments, MLG is thrilled to hit the California scene and watch the famously laid-back vibe of the LA area instantly morph into a fierce battle for $50,000 in prize money and a spot on MLG’s exclusive pro player roster.

IMPORTANT! You MUST say that you are with Major League Gaming when you call for hotel reservations in order to secure the discounted room rate. This is also vital because a certain number of rooms have been reserved for MLG, and if the hotel doesn’t know you’re with MLG, they may tell you the hotel is booked out.

Be sure to book your hotel ASAP. As many people have learned the hard way, these hotels book out very fast (several weeks before the event), so please do not delay. You must book your hotel room before June 9th. That is the deadline to get the group rate.

Remember: Aside from the prize money that is awarded to the winners, players at MLG Anaheim will be fighting to accumulate ranking points that will earn them Pro Status with MLG, which in turn grants them many perks such as travel stipends and free registration, as well as increased exposure and media coverage.

Note:
- These perks apply to players who maintain pro status through ranking points during the 2006 Season or qualify for the Playoffs or National Championships.
- In order to receive a Travel Stipend, the qualified player must register for and compete in the event at which they would receive it.
Travel Stipends are awarded immediately following an event based on the cumulative ranking points of the team you were on at that tournament. If you earn a Travel Stipend based on your team's performance at an event, you will receive it at the next event regardless of what team you are on. You can not “get a stipend” by joining a high ranked team if you were not on that team at the time they earned their stipends, or had not earned one previously with another team.
In order to be eligible to receive Travel Stipends, the player must be 15 years or older. This is due to issues with child labor laws.
- MLG reserves the right to revoke any player’s entitlement to Pro Player Stipends at any time and for any reason.
