Madden Home: Final Boss Wins MLG Dallas

By: Kyle Monico - Published May 21, 2006 at 9:00 PM EDT - Writer Archive
After three days of Halo 2, MLG Dallas has come to an end. Final Boss continues their dominance well into the 2006 Season.
Final Boss, formerly 3D's Halo 2 team, is well-known for their dominance throughout the 2005 Season. They competed and won every tournament except for MLG Philadelphia, which they placed second to Str8 Rippin. In 2006, FB started off the year in the right direction, winning MLG New York and only dropping two games the entire event. MLG Dallas had the same results for the famous Halo 2 squad.

Str8 Rippin managed to bring Final Boss back to game 5 of the Upper Bracket Finals but only to lose 50-25. FB continued the momentum into the Grand Finals where they once again met Str8 Rippin. However, Str8 could not manage a victory as FB would win three straight games to claim the win. The scores and brackets can be found HERE.

it's pretty weak that the halo2 scene can't even challenge this single team.

str8 rippin did a lot of smack talking and haven't won an event since.

maybe it just shows the maturity of the community. none of these kids can get it together in terms of practice, dedication, and determination. if someone REALLY wanted to beat these guys, then they WOULD.

I still dont know why they left team 3d...ive only read rumors anyone actually know the real story?

I mean why would team 3d get rid of them when they win everything?

If you understand how h2 players think you woul dunderstand why they left. They have a very strong "god" complex, str8 were exactly the same with us. Organisations only have limited funds and with the costs of sending h2 players all over the US & the "lack of" return the teams get it makes perfect sense for the MGC's to not bother with h2. The h2 players have a tendancy to assume $3000 is easy money for a MGC to get hold of and if they don't get it they simply leave, trying to give the MGC a bad name for "not supporting" them or "false promises". h2 players (the big ones) are somewhat of a joke when it comes to team loyalty.

FB left 3D because of an opportunity handed to them from MLG. It had nothing to do with sponsorship money (or money at all).

#14 3d is a very large organization and has sponsered the CS team to travel all over the world and has very strong sponsers...not to mention their h2 team was basically demolishing eveyrthing giving them a very good name.

Okay, I'll explain the current Halo/console situation using references from past CS/PC days. Think back to when it used to be x3 and NiP. Then it went to 3D and SK. Well Halo/console competitions are still in the beginning stages, since StK/3D/FB are one of the only teams that comes to mind that actually stuck to the same name for almost an entire season I'm guessing it's getting better considering in Halo1 or MLG Season one, not a single team kept the same name. Not to mention teams generally tend to change their name to whatever their sponsors tell them. If Intel or nVidia told 3D they had to use their name as their clan name I'm sure they would do it. Sponsors pretty much controle the professional community IMO. And name changes aren't that confusing if you actually follow the sport.

Thanks for your time:
Chris Randell < Biohazard >

ps. Also, it's alot harder for console kids to dethrown the current champs(StK/3D/FB) because the average age of a console player is alot younger then that of a PC player so the ableness to dedicate is significantly decreased.

excuse me, but being younger actually allows more opportunity to dedicate one's self.

being in highschool is perhaps one of the easiest commitments I have ever had. I spent my time looking at women, partying, and not paying attention in class. Did I mention I played videogames competitively while in highschool as well?

I ended up graduating.

Now, having a full time job.. or going to college. That leaves NO TIME for competitive gaming.
