Okay, so at the end of the movie the film cuts back to Rob & Beth at Coney Island. Now it's said that if you watch that part closely, on the right of the screen you see what looks like a capsule fall into the Atlantic Ocean--many speculate that the capsule is the monster, making it an alien, nothing something that came out of the earth.
I just saw it today and I dind't pay attention to that part unfortunately, so I was wondering if anyone has had any luck finding it on the internet.
Also, if you stayed past the credits you heard a voice. That voice says something that is incoherent, but when played backwards it says "It's still alive." Hinting that Rob survived the attack or something.
Please, if you have found a video or image of that last Coney Island scene please post it. I've searched everywhere to no avail.
it's like the blair witch project on steroids..SPOILERS---DON'T LOOK iF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN IT YET----
the movie starts out slow for the first 15 mins to basically introduce the characters and their relationships. after that it's an intense roller coaster ride! the commercials did a real good job hiding what the monster looked like, but the movie did not leave us with any details of how the monster came about. was it a govt made thing out of control? or some kind of alien? then towards the end it goes down hill, unbelievable and corny events take place which killed the movie for me..how could beth still be alive? the monster eats the dude holding the camera but then drops him and the camera? seems like alot of plot holes. if there is a sequel i wouldn't watch it in theaters..just my 2 cents
driven by my ambitions, desire higher positions, that why i make g's eternally in my mission
I saw the capsule thing fall in the distance at the end of the movie...... I also think the Aliens looked a lot like the aliens from SpaceTroopers. I'm probably wrong but I think its the beginning of the war with those aliens in space troopers.
Abrams wanted "America's Own Monster", it all came about when he was in Japan with his kid and while he was at the toy store there was shelfs full of Godzilla toys and he thought of the idea of "America's Own Monster"
I really hope there is a sequel to this movie, it would be amazing... Abrams and Reeves said that if there was to be a sequel to the movie, it would be in the perspective of someone else's camera.
I read that on yahoo.com's news thing, I can't find it anymore :(
If Rob survived the attack at the end, then Beth has got to be dead... they were both crushed by concrete boulders lol.
Rob: "Beth, look at me... I love you!" Beth: "I love you too!"
"IT'S STILL ALIVE" means that the monster itself was still alive. Remember how the military said they were going to nuke the whole place? Robert and Beth died, but the monster is still alive.
the movie was really good the only people that didnt like it were a) people that get motion sickness, which is understandable. and b) people who wanted to know more about the monster and its origins, in which case.. you missed the point of the movie
I feel like a jerk saying this, but if you don't like Cloverfield I almost label you as stupid. Especially if you claim it to be "stupid" and "a dumb movie." Unless you can provide valid reasoning.
#19, Slusho is a Japanese slushy company - www.slusho.jp
I read that they dropped a satellite into the ocean, which you can see in the final scene where they're in Coney Island if you watch closely. That satellite woke up the monster was from Tagruato - http://tagruato.jp/
The best theory right now is that the object falling from the sky was the failed satellite mentioned in the viral marketing for the movie, and when the Japanese company (something that starts with a T, forgot the name, may be the same company Rob was going to Japan to do work with/for), and that either the satellite sunk to the bottom of an ocean chasm and struck the slumbering monster, or when the Japanese company sent a team down into the ocean to recover the satellite, they accidentally disturbed the monster down there nearby.
edit: Ah, I see #1 already knows. Yeah, following that link you posted in #22, it seems likely that Tagruato is the culprit behind the monster's rousing. That company website says right on the front-page that a focus of their enterprises is deep-sea drilling. Doubt it's a coincidence.
edit 2: This website is very interesting, if you're into the whole Cloverfield speculation. Check out these two links.
Tagruato alleges blame for the incident on some sort of eco-terrorist cell called "Tidowave". And then the latest news bulletin on the website talks about a company executive being attacked by these so-called eco-terrorists and "pouring a liquid" over his head, before running away. So what was the liquid? The vagueness of that detail stands out as conspicuously as a nun in a brothel.
Also, what's this deal with the drink company owned by Tagruato called "Slusho!" and their product's secret ingredient nicknamed "Seabed's Nectar"? Sounds suspicious. Wonder where exactly Tagruato is getting this ingredient from, what with them and all their deep-sea drilling. Could this be the mystery liquid? Is the ingredient somehow connected to the Cloverfield monster?
How much you wanna bet the sequel to Cloverfield involves Tagruata, these "eco-terrorists", and how the monster is somehow involved.
That secret ingredient tends to make things grow; if you go to the Slusho website (linked above) and click on one of the bubbles it gives you information on the company. This could have made that girl Marlena explode behind that curtain. She was the one that was bitten by those creatures.
Amazing how much backstory this movie has. If people who said the movie "sucked" only knew about all this, I'm sure all their opinions would change.

You really don't know what happened to them--they could still be alive.

http://tagruato.jp/deepsea2.php
Note the location of Chaui Station. It's close to New York. It's one of their 13 deep-sea drilling stations.
http://tagruato.jp/headlines.php?story=ne..
Now note this news update on the company website. Some sort of vague "altercation" at the only recently opened station? Gee, what could it have been?
I wonder if calling that phone number listed reveals anything.
