Boza isn’t doing anything that most of the top names in the game haven’t done already. Most of the players that the community sees competing for championships belong to crews; they just may not hype it up as much as others do. Game Time Philly features veterans like Big Gene and Philly Ron. The organization also puts together the Player’s Bowl and the Ultimate Player’s Bowl, which has grown to be one of the top three tournaments in the nation alongside the Madden Challenge Finals and the Mega Bowl. The Madden community’s top name, Eric “Problem” Velarde, rolls with a crew called The New West, a group on a mission to debunk the myth that west coast Madden players are ‘soft’. He is joined by the likes of One9 and Reality, among others. Secret, despite spewing out countless rants about being the greatest thing to happen to the game, even rolls with a crew. He forms the G-Code with his buddy and now mainstream baller, Jet Steele with others. Two other undeniably stacked crews are EMB (Squeeze, KornStar, Chow, Big Game James and Brusk) and WWA (RG, Young Nephew and Cory Top). It seems like now, more players are finding confidence and security in numbers. What brings the idea of crews and alliances to the forefront of current Madden trends is the emergence of two rather large crews in the past couple of months. The Corporation, which features Midwest talent such as Truth, Chuck Hollywood, Sirus the Virus, Pretty Boy and others, are a group that carries with them talent, accomplishment and a whole lot of smack talk. “We rival with everyone,” Corporation member and former Madden Nation contestant Chuck Hollywood said. “When I say that we’re the hottest thing since sliced bread, I mean everyone wants to join our crew.” Was sliced bread ever hot, or just popular? Oh, well, we get what he means…sort of. Call it a response to the Corporation if you will, but DoG (Definition of Greatness) also has a tidy roster of solid gamers such as Litez Out, Godson, Blaze, Bunz B, and Sherm. Suddenly, going at it alone seems a little more intimidating.
