Lets break down the strategy of trash talking in Madden 08 as well as the advantages and disadvantages of adding it to your arsenal ![]() Every Madden baller has ran across some form of trash talking some way or another. Whether pre-game, in-game, or post-game, trash talking has always been apart of Madden. I'm going to breakdown every type of trash talker and let you know the advantages and disadvantages of this art. Pre-game trash talkers are the type that like to get in your face before the matchup. They will insult your game in various ways leading up to the match. I personally think this is the weakest type of trash talking. In my own opinion and throughout personal experiences, I don't see how this gives anyone the upper edge. If anything it puts a bigger target on their back. This can be seen as a disadvantage. A person who talks a big game before they play it, may end up falling short and will be looked at as exactly what he is, a talker. Normally when you see someone talking trash before the game, chances are they will continue to do it throughout the game. Once again I feel that being only a pre-game trash talker really doesn't make you look that good. Aside from the pre-game jaws, they have the in-game chatter boxes. These type of players will come at you with all they got during the game. This is intended to throw you off your game or get you discouraged and force you into making costly mistakes. Good Madden players know how to shrug this off and tune everything out. While on the other hand, a baller with little experience under his belt may fold with someone screaming down his neck. In game trash talking has a low risk high reward type of deal. If he manages to throw his opponent off his game, he's definitely in the driver seat throughout the contest. Or if the opponent comes back and manages to take control, the majority of the time they get respect by people saying he tuned his opponent out effectively. These type of trash talkers are really skilled in the game, or not very competitive at all and just talk a big game. You just have to tune these players out as much as possible. Page:

Like in real sports, Madden can be a mental game too. Either finangle your way into your opponents head and skewer his strategy with insults and dares or mute your opponent and focus on your game.
Communicating with your opponent can be a positive experience though. There are some civil opponents online who will attempt to have intelligent conversations or even share some tips with you. At the end of the day, if you beat your opponent and befriend them too, you'll be a lot more respected. Trash talking is effective when your game is not quite good enough on it's own...
I could've told you all of this when I was 10-years-old playing dodgeball in the gym.
Remember when Lebron walked by Arenas at the foul line a couple years back in the playoffs and whispered something to him. Well Arenas then missed either the 2 or 3 free throws he was shooting and lost the game for the Wizards. Some people just have a harder time getting it out of their heads then others.
And I use to enjoy coming to this site every now and then but this is getting out of hand. The articles really are poorly written.
