1UP has confirmed that David Ortiz, lead producer of the Madden franchise has left EA Tirburon, the EA branch responsible for all your Madden goodness. Inside sources at 1UP reveal that Ortiz cited family reasons as the excuse for his departure, however rumors of Ortiz's frustration with "inner workings" of EA have been floating about. Replacing Ortiz is producer Phil Frazier, who worked on the development team of EA's NFL Tour.
