xbox 360 device?

i have an external harddive with movies and music on it but when i plug it into my xbox 360 an dtry to watch movies on it. it doesnt read that there is an extern hadrdrive device hooked into it. anyone know why??

is your drive formated in FAT32?

What I've found is that the external drives are read only. If it's formatted correctly I'm not sure what the error would be

Not too sure if external drives work with the 360. If you have a PS3, though, hook it up to there and it will work.

my 320 gig external mybook hdd works fine, my ipod works as well. Able to watch movies as well.

Hard Drive is probably formatted in NTFS.

#11 does it have to be FAT32 for 360?

How big is your external HDD? You could always move ur data onto bluray discs, and then buy the bluray 360 player...

Just download Windows Media Player 11 and follow the sharing instructions on the 360 website.

google "xbox share media pc" and you'll find them

easy as pie, i can download a movie and instantly watch it on my tv via wireless streaming from my pc

Hmm Nick you're making me think I should set my 360 up on my wireless network. Probably easier than having cat5 running through the middle of my office
