In a surprising upset, Carbon has been dropped into the loser's bracket at MLG Chicago.
MLG second day at Chicago proved to be a shocking one. In the Halo 2 Championship bracket players were witnessed to (7)Str8 Rippin defeating (2) Carbon in a dominant 3 - 0 Series victory.

The first game was a very close 5 - 4 victory on Midship CTF. Str8 came onto an early lead 2-0 and extending the lead towards 3-1. As the match dwindled down, Carbon led a rush to tie the game 4-4. It was the excellent play of Str8's newest addition, Kyle “Elamite Warrior” Elam, that helped the team edge out the victory 5 - 4. The next gametype set Team Slayer on Midship. Str8 ran away with the victory posing a 50-38 victory creating a dead silence to Carbon but a thunderous roar to the crowd. That roar would only be matched by the end of a 4:21 - 3:18 series victory on Lockout that sent Str8 Rippin's members into the air.

While some felt it was a dominant showing by the new, and considered improved Str8 Rippin, many saw this as Carbon's continued poor preformance on Saturdays. "All that was suprising was that it was 3 - 0." Rob Hamilton , 17, said. "Saturday is their worst day. Sunday is always different. " This, of course, is a reference to MLG Charlotte where Carbon was defeated by FBI The Agency 5 - 0 in Upper Bracket only to rampage through the Lower Bracket and place 2nd, losing only to Final Boss. FBI's The Agency's Brett "Naded" Leonad, 17, explained that Carbon perhaps has an "underdog" mentality. "They like to play in losers," he went on to say, explaining how a mentality like that can help to calm them when they make their championship run.

Though MLG Chicago is still underway, there is still much to be decided as Carbon will make yet another run in the losers bracket heading into Sunday. Based on their defeat they will be looking to rebound.
