The CCCP (Combined Community Codec Pack) is a filter pack specifically built for playing anime. This idea back fired, I'll stick to praising vlc instead of venturing outside the box.

#3 is right, actually.

That said, it's still a great codec pack, and not excessively bloated like most of the other popular packs. I use it. VLC is great, but doesn't always work with everything (has problems with matroska in particular). The CCCP takes care of anything else.

I understand that this pack started out being intended for anime fansubbing and DVD ripping groups, but now the pack has evolved into something that's great for anybody.

#18 You're clueless. They're saying that the pack is trying to be exactly the opposite of that. Other codec packs are shady and system invasive with sh*tons of obscure bloatware codecs. The CCCP is not.
